There are many types of prayer we can engage in. I want to take a moment to write about one type, silent prayer. I don't mean sitting and saying the prayer in your head. No, the silent prayer I am talking about is just sitting in a church or chapel in front of the tabernacle in silence.
It was over the Christmas period I truely appreciated the power of this form of prayer. On various occasions over the Christmas I knelt or stood by the crib in the church gazing at the baby Jesus in silence. It truely was beautiful and I would have stayed in those moments longer if I could. In this silence I could really feel the Lord there with me, right beside me. I didn't say anything aloud or in silence during this time, I just enjoyed feeling the warmth and comfort of been in the presence of the Lord. Even though I was in silence there was a point to what I was doing. This silence on my part gave the Lord the chance to talk to me, tell me what He wanted, give me guidance
I also try to participate in this type of prayer regularly in the church in front of the tabernacle where I know Jesus is present. It is a wee bit harder as I find it easier to get distracted but I know the Lord understands and even in that moment of distraction he can use it to speak to my heart.
